Dr. Dalbey brings more than 40 years of experience as a teacher and pastor to his responsibilities as Covenant Seminary’s president. He came to the Seminary in 1999 following seven years as senior pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Indiana, before which he served as pastor of The Church of the Covenant in Cincinnati, Ohio, and as a chaplain and Bible instructor at Geneva College. At the Seminary, he served for ten years as dean of students, then as vice president for faculty development and assistant professor of practical theology. In 2012, he took on the additional role of interim president while the Seminary conducted a formal search for the next president. In May 2013, he became president as the unanimous choice of our Board of Trustees. Dr. Dalbey also serves as associate professor of applied theology.

Dr. Dalbey’s doctoral work focused on corporate worship. He is a founding member and the current chairman of the steering committee for the Worship Reformation Network, a group of mostly PCA pastors and worship/music directors committed to promoting biblical, Reformed, and gospel-driven principles for worship. His heart for worship is evident as he teaches the MDiv worship class and advises worship pastors/leaders throughout the denomination. He also teaches a DMin class on grace-based leadership and co-teaches a class on gospel-centered parenting with his wife, Beth.

He and Beth enjoy time with their three married children and nine grandchildren.
